DOĞU / Do-/Doğ- Ucu

Based on our alphabet transcription, the letters “cc” could also be pronounced as “g”. This word could be both pronounced as “DOCCU” and “DOGU”. The word “DOGU” is also equivalent to the modern Anatolian Turkish word “DOĞU”, which is translated as “East” and “Orient”. However, since the word “DOCCU” does not directly define as anything in modern dictionaries, we estimate that it is phonetically very close to the word “DO-/DOU-UCCU” (doğu-ucu), ['do-' (doğ-), 'ccu' (ucu)] which is translated as “the East end”, “East side”, or “the side of the sunrise”. As shown in the map foldout (folio 85v and 86r), the author of the manuscript drew an illustration of a sun – on the top left corner of the page – with the word “DOGU” (doğu) in the same section of the map-page. In different dialects of the Turkish language 'do', 'doğ', 'dou' words meaning-content are: to be born, to do, to be, to create, beget, to rise (etc). This Old-Turkish word-root is quite likely to be connected from same common past root with words 'do, doing, done' in English. There is no evidence that English has the root of these words. There is no any evidence in English about this root in English was exist before 13th century. Many written examples of this words in English are seen in between the 14th and 19th centuries. In the sense of the word being born in Turkish language (to be born, to occur, to rise, etc.), it takes place before 10th or 11th centuries in Old-Uighur-Turkish texts. It is known that in the Kipchak dialects this word was spoken as 'do-' before the 13th century. The word root can bee seen in the Orkhon Inscriptions too (which is one of the Turkish texts from year 735 or earlier). Apart from the meaning of 'being' and 'born' in Turkish language, also the word-root has meanings such as 'doing', 'creating', 'make/making/ building/bringing', 'bringing to life', 'to-be/being exist'. Türk dilinin farklı lehçelerinde 'do', 'doğ', 'dou' sözleri anlam içeriği: doğmak, yapmak, olmak, meydana getirmek, yaratmak, yükselmek, gibi anlamlara gelmektedir. Bu sözün İngilizcede 'do, doing, done' sözcükleri ile kökteş olma olasılığı oldukça yüksektir. Bu konuda ayrıca bir makale yazıyorum. İngilizcede bu sözcüklerin kökünün 13.yy dan önce, ve 'do (v)' sözünün bulunduğuna dair bir kanıt yoktur. Bu dilde bir çok yazılı örnek 14.yy ile 19.yy arası örneklerde görülür. Sözcük İngilizceye dar anlamı ile alıntılanmış ve İngilizce içinde ayrıca evrilmiştir. Sözcüğün Türk dilinde doğmak anlamında (doğmak, meydana gelmek, yükselmek vb) Eski-Türkçe Uygurca metinlerinde 1000 yılından önce geçmektedir. Kıpçak ağızlarında bu sözün 13. yy öncesi 'do-' olarak seslendirildiği bilinmektedir dodu / doğdu / togdu/ toğdı seslendirilişleri yazılı kayıtlardan da anlaşılmaktadır. Sözcük 735 yılı veya öncesi Eski-Türkçe metinlerden olan Orhun Yazıtlarında doğu (doğum/gün-doğumu) anlamında geçmektedir. Sözcüğün Türk dilinde doğmak anlamı dışında 'yapmak', 'yaratmak', 'meydana-getirmek', 'yaşama-getirmek', 'ortaya-çıkmak/çıkarmak' gibi anlamları da vardır ve bu anlamlar sözcüğün kök anlamı içerisinde binlerce yıldır bulunuyor olmalıdır.
